MoYou London Stamping Challenge: Red

Today's prompt was "Red" which leaves an infinite number of possibilities! I decided to keep it pretty simple and just used one stamp from the Princess Collection.

I started with two coats of OPI Glints of Glinda which is just a sheer nude. I then used Nicole by OPI Boys'n'Berry to do the stamping. I topped it off with a french using a Zoya red (I think it was Carrieann).

Add some rhinestones (because who doesn't love a bit of bling) and call it a day!

Ahoy Matey

I got a new sweater on the Boxing Day sales that is a light beige with orange anchors all over it and I thought it might be cute to recreate on my nails.

I started with a base of Zoya Jacqueline, a really beautiful nude colour from Zoya's Lovely Collection. I then went in with the end of a skewer (because I didn't have my dotting tools to hand) and added on the polka dots in OPI Jinx a very vibrant orange texture from the Bond Girls collection.

I attempted to do a small anchor on my index finger.

I really like the colours but I wish my work was a bit cleaner. I know you shouldn't blame your tools but I wish I'd had my proper ones so my work would have been more exact.

Look how gorgeous this orange texture is though! I'm in love with it and I'm sure I'll use it a lot in the future.

What inspires you?

Christmas Leopard

I love me some leopard and so of course I had to do some Christmas themed ones! I stared with a base of Sephora by OPI Curve-aceous (red) and Nails Inc. Bruton Mews on the accent nail.

I then dabbed on the opposite colour for the leopard spots. The above picture is taken in front of my Christmas tree :)

I then used a copper nail pen and outlined the spots.

Here are some pics outdoors:

This may be one of my favourite leopards! I love how versatile animal prints are. I think this would look good with a gold stud at the base of the nail.

Santa Hats

This really cool image has been floating around the internet so I thought I would duplicate it on my nails. I'm not sure where the original idea came from but it's so cute! (EDIT: Just found out the original idea came from a very talented Youtuber named keshiaLilly, click on her name to be taken to her tutorial video. I did mine a bit differently as I used nail pens but the effect is the same.)

This look is actually reasonably easy to achieve. I started with Sally Hansen Diamonds and then added a Sephora by OPI red called Curve-aceous. I then did the black and white details with nail art pens.

I love these and have gotten lots of positive feedback about them. Unfortunately you can see a bit of the stain that remains on my nail from a previous nail polish. You can't see it so well in person but it's much more noticeable in the photos. Just shows you that you need to have a really good base coat! I had one on at the time it was stained but it wasn't "strong" enough. Yikes!

What Says Christmas More than Green and Red?

Today I have used China Glaze Outta Bounds and OPI Magazine Cover Mouse to do a stripe design. I was going to incorporate some gold as well but it didn't really work out.

I think it's such a Christmas combination! It reminds me of gift wrap.

The only thing I wish is that my lines were a bit more even; it would make the look cleaner. But overall I think this is a simple (ish) Christmas design. I like the contrast of the shiny green and textured red as well.

Fit For a Princess

I wanted to do something very girly and I think I hit the nail on the head with this one! I think I'm a bit old to wear this look, lol, but I think it would be so cute for a little princess.

I started with two coats of OPI Pinking of You and then added a layer of L'Oreal Satin Sheets to give it a beautiful shimmer.

I then taped off sections for each colour I used starting with a pink metallic from Vernis classique. Then I used a pink/silver glitter from Color Club and then Good as Gold from Essie for the central triangle.

I topped it off with a light pink jewel and voila! I think they look like little tiaras. So adorable!!

The Poppies Grow

Today being Remembrance Day I felt compelled to do some poppy nail art. I know this day is an emotional one for some people so I'll keep my musings brief.

I started with a base of Vernis classique by Cherimoya White and then sponged on Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots Clearly Spotted. I painted on the poppies using OPI Magazine Cover Mouse which is a textured red polish.

I then added some black rhinestones to the centre of the poppies.

I think this turned out well.

Til next time friends.

OPI Breast Cancer Awareness Polish

My dear husband went on a conference to Arizona and he picked me up a present of nail polish. I was so happy; he's such a good guy. He bought me the OPI Breast Cancer Awareness polish set which comes with two polishes and some nail stickers. I didn't use the stickers but I used both of the polishes.

The pink polish is called Pinking of You. I love that name. The glitter is called More Than a Glimmer. Both polishes are beautiful and have great application.

I decided to do a glitter gradient with these polishes which I have never actually done successfully before. Maybe that's why I really like this glitter, it actually worked fairly well in the gradient!

I sponged on the glitter concentrating on the tips and then working down. I'm happy with how this turned out and hopefully I'll be able to do more glitter gradients in the future.

October was actually breast cancer awareness month but I think it's never too late to show some support.

As a total aside, I'd like to give a shout out to my American friends. You've eclipsed the Canadians in page views over the last couple days. Thanks so much for the support!!
