Zoya Hearts

You know how much I love Zoya! I haven't used them in awhile so I wanted to bust them out and do something light and happy. Featured in this nail art is Piaf (yellow), Gie Gie (pink), Blu (blue), Julie (purple), and Neely (green).

I started with a base of Piaf and then drew on the hearts with the different colours and a dotting tool.

I think this is so bright and springtimey (that's probably not a word!). I've been rocking the dark colours for so long that I wanted to go light for this look and I'm glad I did. It's already brightened my mood.

Did I mention I love Zoya? :)

Warm Up with a Cup of Cheer

I love getting inspiration from all over and today's nails are inspired by a picture of one of my friends, Nikki, who recently visited the German Christmas Market here in Vancouver. If you are ever so fortunate as to meet Nikki, you would find her to be one cool lady indeed!

I started with a base of Zoya Sailor  on all of my nails to replicate her coat and then added polka dots using a dotting pen and Revlon Foxy (dark brown) and an unnamed beige by LA Color Craze for a rather loose interpretation of the fur around her collar.

My first pic is in natural light and the second pic is taken indoors.

This pic is also in natural light. For the cup I used an unnamed red in my collection and some nail art pens for the details. I'm not sure what exactly is in the cup ;)

Nikki liked it a lot! (I think, lol)

Zoya Days Pt 5, Combo

I went out for dinner with some girlfriends the other night and needed to do a design that I could replicate on my right hand. Since I'm so in love with my Zoya polishes right now I decide to do a design with two I have featured recently. I did a base of Sunshine and then painted some swirly accents using Tomoko and a dotting tool.

I actually did a top coat of Seche Vite which you are technically not supposed to do with textured polishes but I wanted to get a smooth surface to do the design on (and it gave it a beautiful glittery finish!)

I like this design; I don't love it. I was considering adding some rhinestones to it and I wish I had. That might have given it a bit of oompf.

Tomorrow I'll be featuring a new Zoya polish (well, new to me anyway), so stay tuned!

Polka Pals

My friend Kaycie allowed me to take over her nails once again and this time she asked for polka dots. She chose some bright colours and I got to work.

She picked out a pink from LA Color Club Color Craze (no name attached) as the base and chose a green and a blue for the spots. I honestly don't remember which colours she chose, whoops! I've never forgotten colours before; must be getting old, lol.

I used a large dotting tool for the dots. It's a lot harder to do on another person than on yourself!

I think the overall effect is very bright and happy, just like Kaycie is! The greatest thing is that she took inspiration from the design and decided to do it herself for a Halloween mani.

How awesome is that? She said she used the top of a pin for a makeshift dotting tool. I'm so impressed with her and so glad that she showed me! Such a nice surprise.
