Inspired by a dress

Being confined to a couch does not really lend itself towards awesome fashion. I've been rocking yoga pants for way longer than I care to think about! When I'm back dressing normally I have this striped black dress that I'm dying to wear again. It's more of a summer dress, so I'll have to wait awhile but I really like it. It's white and black stripes and my mom says I look like "a cute referee", lol. I like to pair it with some coral pink ballet flats. My nails today draw from this inspiration.

I started by painting base coats of Sally Hansen Coral Reef on my thumb, pinkie and index fingers and Sally Hansen White Out on my middle and ring fingers. Then I used some striping tape on my middle and ring fingers to make the design you see. I painted over the striping tape with just a basic black polish and then removed the tape quickly to keep the lines as clean as possible.

Then I added some black studs from a set my friend Mandy sent me, topped it all with a clear top coat and called it a day. I think it turned out really well and is by far my most successful use of the striping tape thus far.

I've started "The Glossary" part of my blog. It currently only has a couple of entries (one being about striping tape) but you can get an idea of what it's going to look like when it's finished. I'm hoping for it to be a comprehensive list of nail art terms coupled with pictures. You can reach The Glossary from the home page; there is a tab at the top of the page. If you have any suggestions for terms you'd like to see, please let me know.

I leave you with one more pic of today's nails and a very happy Friday to you all!

  1. I can't imagine how long it took you to achieve the black and white stripe but the result is fantastic! I can totally picture inspiration dress and shoes. This is like Project Runway for nails. :-)

    1. I love the Project Runway reference as it's one of my favourite shows. I probably should have posted a pic of the dress and shoes together. I'm so glad you like it :)
