I deeply apologize for not blogging for a long time. Bad blogger!! <<hangs head in shame>>
Enough shame; on to the blogging!
I have a pair of silver ballet flats that I wore to my sister-in-law's wedding and absolutely love. They are nice and blingy without being over the top. I thought I would do a simple look that emulates them.
The silver colour is Zoya Seraphina which is a really soft beautiful shade. I then added some simple silver rhinestones that I got at a craft store.
Here is the look with the shoes. I think they match pretty well. The stones on the shoes are more opaque but it's not like you'd be holding your nails next to your shoes all day!
It was simple to do, really quick and I think it turned out really nicely.
I like matching my nails to an element of my outfit. Makes me feel like I'm at least semi put together, lol.
Again, sorry for my absence!
Happy painting friends!

Purple Fracture
My husband went go-karting for his birthday and I went along for the festivities after but did not partake in the karting. What's a girl to do but her nails! My BFF had just grabbed me a new Zoya called Mason and I knew I had to use it so it formed the base of the design.
The silver was just a nail pen that I used to draw on the solid silver area and then the fractured look over the purple.
I was going for a fractured type look but one of my friends said it reminded him of a giraffe, lol. This was pretty simple to do but I think the effect is quite cool.

Happy 2014!
Happy New Years everyone! I wanted to do something blingy on my nails for the occasion and I'm super happy with the results.
I started with a base of Rimmel Hot Black to Go. Not my favourite black but it was the first one I found ( I can't wait to get my new Ikea Helmer and get organized!)
I then added a half-moon of a england King Arthur and then added a no-name silver glitter from Walmart. I added some silver rhinestones around the edge of the half-moon and then coated the whole thing (twice!) with Seche Vite.
I think it looks elegant and super fab :)
What do you think? Does it say New Years to you?
Happy painting friends and a very very happy New Year to you and yours!

More Snowflakes but so Tiny!
Today is day two of my nail art featuring my friend Carrie and her daughter. Today is focused specifically on her daugher Mina. She is five years old, cute as a button and very smart! I had such a good time visiting with her and doing her nails. She loves pink (of course) but is also really drawn to bright orange! She wanted snowflakes just like her mom so I had to give her what she wanted :)
I started with a base of Orly Mayhem Mentality and then drew on the snowflakes with a silver nail pen. The glitter accent nail is by Color Club.
The thing I love the most about this is she chose everything herself. All the colours, where the accent finger was, everything! She had very definite opinions of what she wanted.
She was very happy with the result:
How cute is she?!?
I then invited her to do my nails and she was very excited to choose my colours and design. She was even brave and tried using the nail art pens!
Needless to say there was a lot of glitter involved! She was so invested in doing my nails and I loved it. There were a lot of colours involved and I won't list them all here but I will say that the end result reminded me of a birthday party so we called them "birthday nails".
Thanks Mina!

I'm Obsessed with Snow!
I know I've already posted two (maybe three) snow designs so far but what can I say? I love me some snow! I started with a base of Kleancolor Blue Pearl, a silver glitter topper and Orly White Out (for the snow on the ground). I then did the rest of the design with nail pens.
There is something about blue and silver that just says beautiful to me. I love it paired together with a snow motif.
It reminds me of a snow globe being shaken.
I am so in love with this design I can't even stand it! It makes me so happy :)
I'm really really enjoying doing this winter/Christmas themed nail art. Stay tuned for more!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow
My dear friend Kaycie was by again and of course I had to paint her nails for her! I told her just to trust me this time as usually I let her pick out her design and colours. I knew she wanted something festive so I put on the Christmas music and went to work. I started with a gradient base using Barry M Blue Moon and Barielle Sky's the Limit . Then I applied a layer of white glitter and then drew in some snowflakes with a white nail pen.
She loved it!
I was getting Kaycie to do all these different poses and then she wanted to do one of her own so here it is:
She loved it!
I also added in some little blue rhinestones to give it an extra bit of bling.

I love that she did it and then said, "Kablam!" She is too funny!

If you Like it Then You Should Have Put a Stripe on It
I saw this beautiful blue from China Glaze (Sparks Will Fly) in my stash the other day and knew I had to use it. It's a magnetic polish which means that you can put a magnet over the wet polish and it will form into a design (the magnet comes with the polish). I'm not a massive fan of using the magnet; I just love the colour of the polish! I wanted to keep it simple so I just did one coat of the China Glaze and then used a silver nail pen and put in a couple of stripes.
So simple but so effective! The silver lines did get a bit smushed in a couple places but that's only noticeable if you look really closely.
I love this colour as it is really heavily pigmented and goes on so easily. This whole look took me no time at all, yet I think it is stunning. I can see me wearing this in many different shades.

Snow Queen
This was one of those designs that I had no concept when I started and just added things til I liked it. I started with a base of Orly Snow Cone. I then added a layer of silver glitter from LA Colors Color Craze. I thought it looked a bit like falling snow at this point so I added in some white with Orly White Out. Lined that with a silver nail pen and added some bling.
I think it's quite pretty. It might be good for a Christmas party.
Sometimes it's nice just picking a colour that speaks to you and seeing where you end up.
Happy painting friends!
As I say, I just kept adding til I liked it! And I like it! I called it Snow Queen because it really reminds me of the cold wintery days and it's all fancy with the bling.
Happy painting friends!
