The Great Egg Hunt

Well, it's time once again for a challenge! I loved participating in the Valentine's challenge back in Feb and was sad when I missed the St. Patrick's one in March. I couldn't resist signing up for the Easter one though.

Today's prompt is Easter Eggs. I had this great idea about doing a riff on Ukrainian Easter Eggs but I ran out of time so I came up with this.

I started with two coats of Color Club Evolution and then added all the details using my nail art pens.

I then used Sally Hansen Sugar Shimmer Sugar Cloud to give it a bit of a shimmer.

I don't know that I'm in love with this design. It's just alright for me. I wish I had more time and could have put out something a lot better. But hey ho, we still have 3 more days of the challenge!

Blasts From the Past Pt 2

I couldn't fit all my previous nail art into one post so here's part 2! I'm only choosing my favourites so I hope you enjoy this installment.

The lace is possibly my favourite and definitely something I want to recreate but possibly in other colours. The Spiderman ones are pretty fantastic too though.

I apparently didn't know the joy that was a top coat back then, lol.

Blasts From the Past

I thought I would do a post dedicated to nail art I did before I started this blog. I don't remember all the polishes I used so I won't be listing them but if you have a particular question, let me know.

Please bear in mind that these photos were taken with my iPhone so they aren't the best quality and also I wasn't as in to clean up back then.

Enjoy!

The first look on this page was my BFF's hands. I got her the ring for her birthday and tried to match the art to the ring.

I love all these looks and will probably try to recreate them (hopefully better!)

Stay tuned for part 2!

It's Still Snowing but on Someone Else's Fingers

I visited one of my best friends from university and got to spend time with her and her fabulous kids. They are three and five and some of the best behaved children I've ever met! The next couple of days I'm going to have posts that feature her and her daughter.

Today's nail art is on my friend Carrie's nails. I had to shake my finger a bit at her and give her a bit of a lecture on keeping her cuticles healthy! She is a biologist and a lot of her time is spent digging around in dirt so I gotta give her a bit of leeway I guess ;) but girlfriend could benefit from some cuticle oil!

My favourite thing this season seems to be snow so I had to do a similar design to what I did on Kaycie's nails, just in a different colour.

I started with a gradient using Natural Collections Lunar Haze and Essie The Lace is On. I then added a layer of glitter over the top of the gradient and a Color Club glitter on the accent finger.

I then used a white nail pen and drew on the snowflakes.

I really love this design and think it's so festive and beautiful! I haven't done it on my own nails yet though but I'm sure I'll be rocking it out soon :)

I'm Obsessed with Snow!

I know I've already posted two (maybe three) snow designs so far but what can I say? I love me some snow! I started with a base of Kleancolor Blue Pearl, a silver glitter topper and Orly White Out (for the snow on the ground). I then did the rest of the design with nail pens.

There is something about blue and silver that just says beautiful to me. I love it paired together with a snow motif.

It reminds me of a snow globe being shaken.

I am so in love with this design I can't even stand it! It makes me so happy :)

I'm really really enjoying doing this winter/Christmas themed nail art. Stay tuned for more!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

My dear friend Kaycie was by again and of course I had to paint her nails for her! I told her just to trust me this time as usually I let her pick out her design and colours. I knew she wanted something festive so I put on the Christmas music and went to work. I started with a gradient base using Barry M Blue Moon and Barielle Sky's the Limit . Then I applied a layer of white glitter and then drew in some snowflakes with a white nail pen.

She loved it!

I also added in some little blue rhinestones to give it an extra bit of bling.

I was getting Kaycie to do all these different poses and then she wanted to do one of her own so here it is:

I love that she did it and then said, "Kablam!" She is too funny!

Tis the Season!

It's December and you know what that means...Christmas nail art is upon us! I'm not saying that I'm going to do holiday themed nail art every day but I'm also not promising that I won't. Christmas is my favourite time of the year and I'm so excited to do some cool designs. I'm pretty pumped about today's look. I saw something similar to this on a blog and for the life of me I can't remember which one (wish I could so I could give credit where credit is due!).

I used a base of Zoya Tomoko (which you know I love!) and then drew on the holly leaves with a green nail pen and the berries with Orly Moonlit Madness and a dotting tool.

I think this turned out so well! The holly is pretty simple design-wise but I think it looks amazing when paired with the gold textured polish. So festive!!!!

I absolutely did not want to take this off of my fingers!

If you Like it Then You Should Have Put a Stripe on It

I saw this beautiful blue from China Glaze (Sparks Will Fly) in my stash the other day and knew I had to use it. It's a magnetic polish which means that you can put a magnet over the wet polish and it will form into a design (the magnet comes with the polish). I'm not a massive fan of using the magnet; I just love the colour of the polish! I wanted to keep it simple so I just did one coat of the China Glaze and then used a silver nail pen and put in a couple of stripes.

So simple but so effective! The silver lines did get a bit smushed in a couple places but that's only noticeable if you look really closely.

I love this colour as it is really heavily pigmented and goes on so easily. This whole look took me no time at all, yet I think it is stunning. I can see me wearing this in many different shades.

Fall Nimbus

I really love the nimbus design that the Nailasaurus originated. It's so easy to do and makes such a beautiful effect. For this one I used a base of Orly White Out and then three colours from the Essie Fall Collection (For the Twill of It, Vested Interest, The Lace is On) and Essie Under Where? (a light pink).

I love how this turns out and experimenting with different colour palettes. This one is quite beautiful if I do say so myself!

I know I'm going to be using this quite a bit when I get back to work as it's really just as easy to do with your non-dominant hand as it is to do with your dominant hand.

Love!

Zoya Days Pt 5, Combo

I went out for dinner with some girlfriends the other night and needed to do a design that I could replicate on my right hand. Since I'm so in love with my Zoya polishes right now I decide to do a design with two I have featured recently. I did a base of Sunshine and then painted some swirly accents using Tomoko and a dotting tool.

I actually did a top coat of Seche Vite which you are technically not supposed to do with textured polishes but I wanted to get a smooth surface to do the design on (and it gave it a beautiful glittery finish!)

I like this design; I don't love it. I was considering adding some rhinestones to it and I wish I had. That might have given it a bit of oompf.

The above pic is of my thumb which I was the happiest with.

Tomorrow I'll be featuring a new Zoya polish (well, new to me anyway), so stay tuned!

Zoya Days Pt 4, Sailor

Continuing on with our Zoya theme today we have a deep blue creme called Sailor. This was a one coater and the formula is beautiful. I think Zoya is my favourite polish at the price point (generally between $8 and $10 per bottle).

It's such a beautiful colour and of course I had so add some nail art to it.

I busted out one of my dotting tools and Zoya Tomoko and Sunshine. I like this look a lot and I think my dotting is getting better. The accent finger turned out the best and should have followed that pattern more on the other fingers (but it was the last finger I did!).

Zoya Days Pt 3, Tomoko

Ready for a gold stunner? Here is another Zoya polish that I recently purchased. This one is called Tomoko and is from the Pixie Dust collection. Again, I love this polish! It goes on like a dream and is just so stunning I can't stand it. I think this will feature heavily in my holiday nail art.

It reminds me of bubbly champagne and is just so pretty! I off course had to do some nail art with it so I busted out Zoya Delilah and added some hearts.

I'm in love! Again!
I know I'm gushing a lot about these polishes but they are just so beautiful and lovely to work with. I'm sure I'm going to be buying more of Zoya in the future!

Here is the design in the sun:

The first pic is a bit out of focus but you can see how the polish really sparkles in the sunshine.

Tomorrow is another beauty!

I'm in Love!

Well it's official, I'm in love with Zoya nail polish. I've wanted to get some Zoyas for awhile now but they aren't sold in stores and even thought the reviews had been really good I usually like to try out a polish before buying it. There was a huge sale online however and so I picked up 6 polishes. It only took the first polish to know I was hooked! Over the next several days I'm going to feature a different polish each day with some nail art.

Today's polish is the first one I grabbed, Zoya Delilah. It is an absolutely beautiful red with a gorgeous glitter.

This is two coats with one coat of Seche Vite top coat. I couldn't stop looking at it! It reminds me of Dorothy's ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz.

I wish I had taken a pic of this in the sunshine so you could see it in all its sparkly glory!

With every Zoya polish I'm going to feature, I also want to add some nail art. I thought some black roses would look very classy with this polish.

I used one of my black nail pens to draw in the rosettes.

I did not want to take this polish off! It's just so pretty; definitely something I will be using a lot in the future.

Stay tuned tomorrow for the next Zoya polish!
